Super Summer Reading 2015

The Utica Public Library’s Super Summer Reading 2015 ran from July 6  through August 28, 2015!Super Summer Reading is a new take on the annual summer reading program, and features three options for youth participants!

  1. Ages 0-3 can join the SuperBabies! program. Parents and caregivers partake in super fun activities with their little ones to win prizes and a free book!
  2. Ages 4-18 can join the more traditional Super Summer Reading Program, record their books, and pick up a free book at the end of the summer if they read at least one book each week of the program.
  3. The Summer Super Challenge
The most exciting part of Super Summer Reading, and new for this year, is the Summer Super Challenge! Ages 10-18 can opt to take part in the Super Challenge, an experiential summer program, with activities that will get participants to EXPLORE, CARE, CREATE and PLAY in the Utica area. Each participant will get a notebook, a single-use camera, and a Challenge Game Board. If the participant completes the necessary number of activities and returns their game board, notebook and camera to the Library by August 28, he or she will be entered to win a Kindle Fire HD6! The Super Challenge is a unique way to get youth engaged in the community and doing a wide variety of worthwhile and fun activities all summer long.

Of course, Super Summer Reading also features the astounding programs and events that the community has come to expect from the Utica Public Library. A full listing of events can be found on the Library's calendar, or on the Super Summer Reading Facebook page where you can get involved in the Super Summer Reading conversation.  #UPLSuperSummer

To cap off Super Summer Reading, be sure to attend the Library’s first pop culture convention, FANDEMICON, on Saturday, August 22, which features contests, gaming, workshops, arts and crafts, an exhibit hall with comic, pop culture and gaming vendors, and presentations from an awesome lineup of guests.  FANDEMICON is a full day of FREE family fandom fun!
